PORTABLE SYSTEM FOR STACKING 20 FEET CONTAINERS IN HOLDS OF CONTAINERS SHIPS

portable system is disclosed herein for stacking 20 ft containers in holds. It is composed of a Sandwich Plate System (SPS) or other equivalent material having the same or improved mechanical properties 1, which SPS is positioned in the middle of the construction and extended from both sides of the transversal symmetry axis at a sufficient length for covering the seating points of the 20 ft containers, of longitudinal lamellae 2 and reinforcing lamellae 3 made from common steel or other materials featuring improved mechanical properties, which lamellae 3 are adapted to the place destined for the 40 ft containers, and of two guides with one guiding side 4. Said stacking system is destined to convert simple stowage into mixed or Russian stowage (mixed stowage of 20 and 40 ft containers, instead of stowage of 40 ft containers, only). In case that weldings are allowed on the bottom of the holds or permitted by the ship's register, said stacking system can be partially employed and spread on the ship, transversally (fig.3). The advantage of the invention is that there is no need of after-construction works excepted welding of stationary cones at the bottom of the holds at the points whereon a 40 ft container is stepping.
