A lock casing (1) is designed to be mounted in a door or window frame. An insert (2) for mounting in the casing includes stop edges for a bolt in the locking mechanism. The insert has an opening (14) extending through it which is defined by two opposing bolt stop edges. The insert has four contact surfaces on the outside facing in the swing direction of the door or window, the first and third surfaces (20, 22) lying at different distances from the first bolt stop edge and the second and fourth surfaces (21, 23) lying at different distances from the second bolt stop edge. The two bolt stop edges are located at different distances from the first, second, third and fourth stop surfaces respectively. The casing includes a support surface for selected stop surfaces on the outside of the insert. An independent claim is also included for a second lock casing arrangement comprising a lock casing and insert.
