Night light diffuser for dispersing air fresheners, disinfectants or insect repellants

Disclosed herein is a plug-in diffuser (1), for use with a substance to be thermally diffused, comprising: (a) an outer housing (11); (b) a male electrical plug (12) extending outwardly from the rear of the housing (11); (c) a female electrical receptacle (3) on the front of the housing (11) having direct electrical contact with the male electrical plug (12), thereby providing plug-through capability; (d) an opening (6) in the outer housing (11) for receipt of an active material container, this opening (6) being located between the front cover (2) of the housing (11) and an inner wall within the housing (11); (e) an electrical resistance heater (8) electrically connected between the terminals of said male electrical plug (12) by means of parallel electrically conductive metal plates (9); wherein: parallel electrically conductive metal plates comprise heat transfer plates (9) extending from the male electrical plug terminals (12) to a night light circuitry board (21) electrically connected between the parallel metal plates (9) within the housing, the metal heat transfer plates (9) being in heat transfer contact with the inner wall of the housing; and (f) an electric lamp (7) electrically connected to the night light circuitry board (21), and having a night light lens (15) over the electric lamp (7) and affixed to the housing (7). The plug-in diffuser (1) having plug-through capability as well as a night light is suitable for use as an air freshener dispenser for such active materials as fragrances, air fresheners, disinfectants or incest repellants. The dispenser (1) uses replaceable cartridges of material to be dispensed, and provides a night light for those who desire such.
