Gene delivery vectors provided with a tissue tropism for dendritic cells provided by a viral capsid protein

Described is a vaccination strategy in which a "crippled" pathogen is presented to the immune system via the action of the antigen presenting cells, i. e. immature dendritic cells (DCs). Adenoviral vectors are used in vaccines to cause antigen-presenting cells to display the desired antigens. Disclosed are vectors and associated means and methods, which transduce antigen-presenting cells thereby, enabling the vector to be delivered in lower doses with a higher efficiency than currently available.
