The proposed method of nondestructive test of tightness of an object by the visualization of gas discharge consists in exposing the tested object to a high-voltage pulse between a positive electrode and the metallic sheath of the object, which is used as a negative electrode, and recording, on photographic film, the pattern corresponding to the gas discharge induced by the high-voltage pulse. The tested object is installed at the polarized dielectric plate arranged between the positive electrode and the object. The ratio between the area of the plate and the area of the object must be of no less than 7:1.
