A leading wave position detecting unit and method etc. is provided for detecting the position of the leading wave in a delay profile. Time spaces between sampled values ([err][err]) in the delay profile are measured. Among themeasured time spaces, a maximum time space ([err] ) isdetermined, and the position of its immediately followingsampled value (sampled value (h)) is detected as a leadingposition. The initial peak of the sampled values after theleading position detected (position of sampled value (j))is determined as a leading wave position.
