The system comprises a number of moving object detectors, a device that calculates aircraft position based on information received from these detectors, and a device for transferring this information from the detectors to the position calculating device. Each moving object detector (7) comprises an antenna for receiving GPS signals from a satellite, a device (12) that detects the presence of a moving object based on variations in the strength of the incoming GPS signal, a vibration detector (8), and a device (9) for determining whether moving object detected is an aircraft, based on the vibration signal information.
