Bleaching process for e.g. sulphate pulp, uses Caros acid prepared by reacting hydrogen peroxide with sulphuric acid obtained from gases generated during pulp waste liquor oxidation
The sulphuric acid reacted with hydrogen peroxide to form Caros acid is derived from the sulphurous gas generated during partial oxidation of pulp waste liquors. A method using Caros acid (peroxymonosulphuric acid) for the treatment of wood chips and/or cellulose pulp, involves the application and preparation of the acid in a completely or partially closed system. The acid is prepared by reacting hydrogen peroxide with sulphuric acid, the latter being at least partially derived from the sulphurous gas generated during partial oxidation of pulp waste liquors.
