The method is for cleaning contaminated earth and involves the soil brought into contact with a solvent, the subsequent separation of the solvent from the earth and the earth then submitted to rinsing. The solvent is a fatty acid ester and/or a fatty acid amide. In a preferred version, the fatty acid ester is an ester of an organic acid with 8 - 24 carbon atoms, alcohol with 1-6 carbon atoms. The amide contains corresponding fatty acid and amine with 1-4 carbon atoms.
