A nickel-free white copper alloy, containing specified amounts of zinc, manganese, aluminum and silicon, titanium and/or chromium, is new. A novel nickel-free white copper alloy has the general formula CuaZnbMncAldXe, where X = one or more of Si, Ti and Cr, b = 5 to 22, c = 7 to 15, d = 0.5 to 4 and e = greater than 0 to 0.3 in wt.%, a being the balance optionally together with impurities.
