Method for setting the height of a section of a patient (0) imaged using an X-ray imaging instrument (1), wherein a camera (2) is used to image the patient from a direction perpendicular to the examination direction (RD) and produce a reference image (3). A section height marking (4) on the reference image is then used in subsequent section imaging. An Independent claim is made for a device for setting a section height in a patient to be examined using an X-ray imaging instrument.
