The system has a page scanning unit for generating a computer file format image with a digitized image of an index page, based on an index page of a written publication. An optical character recognition unit is provided for generating another computer file format image in a text format with a matching text. The text is partially shown in the scanned image contained in the former computer file. The operations of the bibliographic storage and consultation are performed by an information management unit. An independent claim is included for a method for bibliographic search through the consultation of the written publications indexes.
