A method of controlling film thickness of ink for a printing press in multiple colors having a plurality of printing units (11-1 - 11-4) for continuously performing designated color printing on paper and printing means of ink supplied to a printing plate through a group of ink rollers (6), characterized by comprising the steps of: when at least two of said units as units exchange printing plates, exchange for new printing plates (7-1- 7-4) is simultaneously performed, setting a respective number of printing papers to be printed for ink removing in each unit in which plate exchange is performed; disconnect an ink supply operation in each of said printing units exchange plates; and performing printing for ink removing in each of said printing units exchange plate based on their respective number of adjustment of printing papers, while maintaining at the same time the previous printing plate mounted to form a first thickness distribution ink film (Ma) minimum and necessary for printing on said ink roller group of said printing unit exchange plates.
