Procedure for the catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides in the exhaust gas (A) of a combustion plant (2), especially in the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine operating with excess air; whereby: - the exhaust gas (A) passes through a catalyst (6), - before it passes through the catalyst (6), a solution (RL) is added to the exhaust gas (A) ) liquid of the reduction medium, - the solution (RL) of the reduction medium is prepared before the addition, as required, from a solid reduction medium (R) and a liquid solvent (L), and - wherein the solution (RL) of the reduction medium is saturated and thermostatized in a mixing zone (12) at a predetermined temperature, the temperature being adjusted to the melting temperature of the eutectic mixture between the reduction medium (R) and the solvent (L).
