The machine has mesh bags receiving fruit loads from an upper hopper and passed through a tubular vertical guide tube (1). A downwardly projecting tubular mesh element (2) isattached to an end of a fruit load filling unit to permit closure of the mesh bags. A movable closure body closing an outlet of a hopper and discharges pieces of a fruit into a tubular meshelement. The mesh element is vertically slid inside the guide tube for forming the mesh bags in a mesh tube (5). A vertical pipe is attached to the mesh tube. A closing body is made of an elastic material. An independent claim is also included for a method for filling fruit bags.
