Iron and steel phosphatising technique comprises application of an initial iron and manganese phosphates crystalline layer, for partial baring of the iron or steel prior to application of a final identical phosphates layer. Also claimed is the product of the process. The product has a thinner fine-crystalline phosphates coating than in the conventional process with reduced roughness.
