THE PRESENT INVENTION REFERS TO AN APPLIANCE FOR THE ELECTRONIC DETECTION OF DENTAL CARIES. THE APPLIANCE INCLUDES, AT LEAST, A PROBE ELECTRODE (10) PLACED IN ELECTRICAL CONTACT WITH THE SURFACE OF A PATIENT'S TEETH, AND A SECOND ELECTRODE (12) THAT IS PLACED IN ELECTRICAL CONTACT WITH ANOTHER PART OF THE PATIENT'S BODY; AN ALTERNATIVE ELECTRIC CURRENT PASSES BETWEEN THE PROBE (10) AND THE SECOND ELECTRODE (12). THE FREQUENCY OF THE VARIABLE ALTERNATIVE CURRENT ON A RANGE OF DEFAULT FREQUENCIES AND THE ELECTRICAL IMPEDANCE BETWEEN THE ELECTRODES (10, 12) IS MEASURED FOR CERTAIN NUMBER OF FREQUENCY VALUES THAT ARE IN THIS FAN. VARIOUS MODELS OF PROBES ARE SUITABLE FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF TEETH AND VARIOUS SURFACES OF TEETH IN GENERAL INCLUDE AN INSULATION SUBSTRATE (120) OF A HYDROPHOBO MATERIAL, AS FOR EXAMPLE THE GORETEX, AND ONE OR VARIOUS MATERIAL ELEMENTS (122) HYDROPHOBO DRIVER AS FOR EXAMPLE THE IMPREGNATED CARBON GORETEX.
