An interferometric tunable optical filterselects a predetermined wavelength or wavelengths from awavelength division multiplexed signal. The opticalfilter splits an input signal into a plurality ofwaveguide branches. In each branch, the amplitude andphase of the signal can be individually controlled. Thesignals are then recombined. The resulting interferencegives a wavelength dependent transmission spectrum thatcan be adjusted as desired.
