A METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR ONLINE CONDITION MONITORING OF MULTISTAGE ROTARY MACHINERY

The present invention provides a method and system for online health conditionmonitoring ofrotary machinery such as printing presses. The rotary machines have one ormore stages and eachstage has one or more rotary components. The method comprises the steps of:receiving one ormore signals from sensors at each of the rotary units or bearing housings;generating an errormatrix and diagnosing rotation synchronization errors among the differentstages; generatingerror matrices using different signal processing techniques and diagnosing thehealth conditionsof rotary components such as gears, bearings and shafts; and identifying thestages and rotarycomponents having imperfections by comparing the current error matrices tostored referenceerror matrices. The present invention can also be used in other applicationsinvolving rotationalcomponents such as automobiles, airplanes, and power turbines to name a few.
