The invention concerns the fields of ceramics and laser technology and relates to a method, with which, for example, low-melting-point or radioactive materials can be enclosed inside a container made of a ceramic material. The aim of the invention is to produce a durable, gas-tight and high-temperature resistant union between parts made of a non-oxidic ceramic material. To this end, the invention provides a method in which shaped parts made of the ceramic material are provided, on their surfaces to be joined, with a solder consisting of 80 - 30 % by mass of yttrium oxide and/or 55 - 15 % by mass of zirconium oxide, 5 - 70 % by mass of aluminum oxide, 0 - 50 % by mass of silicon dioxide, and 0 - 10 % by mass of silicon. Afterwards, a laser serves to increase the temperature at the joining location to a temperature that exceeds the melting temperature of the solder without the presence of a protective gas atmosphere or a vacuum.
