The invention relates to a device for measuring the subsidence or settlement of a railway structure on railway tracks, wherein a distance sensor (2) measures the distance to a measuring object (6), operating in a contactless manner. One of the two parts i.e. the sensor (2) and the measuring object (6) is connected to a fixed part (1) of the railway substructure and the other respective part is rigidly connected to part (5) of the superstructure.
