摘要

An inorganic oxide powder for use in gel electrolyte of battery, which exhibits an average primary particle diameter of 5 to 40 nm and a possibility of presence of 100 mum or larger agglomerates of 1% or less. Preferably, the hydrophobic degree of the inorganic oxide powder is 50% or higher. Preferably, the inorganic oxide powder consists of silica powder, alumina powder, titania powder or a mixture thereof. The gel composition containing this inorganic oxide powder exhibits a thixotropy index of 6.0 or higher. Preferably, the dynamic elasticity (D30) thereof containing the inorganic oxide powder in an amount of 30 wt.% or more is 10000 Pa or greater. A gel electrolyte for battery that excels in workability and shape retention can be obtained from this gel composition.
