Method for degreasing animal skins at ultralow interfacial surface tension

The invention relates to compositions which are used for removing greases from substrates selected among skins, furs, pelts, and other intermediate products in leather and fur production. Said compositions contain a) a fat phase, b) at least one surfactant, c) an aqueous phase, and d) other optional adjuvants and additives, the interfacial surface tension between the fat phase and the aqueous phase ranging between 1 mNm-1 and 10-9 mNm-1 at a temperature of 15 to 45 DEG C. Also disclosed are a method for removing greases from said substrates, the use of the inventive compositions for removing greases from said substrates, degreasing agents comprising alcohol alkoxylates, the polydispersity D of the individual alcohol alkoxylates or an alcohol alkoxylate mixture being 1,22, and substrates which are selected among the group comprising skins, furs, pelts, and other intermediate products in leather and fur production and contain said alcohol alkoxylates.
