The invention provides a seed coating comprising one or more bioactive compounds and a ligand bearing polymer, wherein the ligand bearing polymer is capable of binding said bioactive compound(s). Also provided are seeds coated with the composition of the invention, and methods of releasing bioactive compounds into the soil surrounding the coated seeds.
