At least one chain link portion (9) has a core (1). The core (1) is enclosed by a core sheathing (10). The core (1) is such that it has a higher level of strength than the core sheathing (10). It is proposed that the core (1) comprises a metallic material. The core sheathing comprises a plastics material.
