The method involves generating a clock signal with a frequency greater than 100 MHz and a periodic maximum sequence of order m and period length 2m-1 pulses of the clock signal. The maximum sequence is amplified and input as a test signal for the broadband linear system. The response signal of the system is amplified as a measuring signal, to adjust its amplitude. A scanning clock signal is formed from the high frequency working clock signal in a partition ratio of 2n. The analogue measuring signal is scanned over at least 2n periods to produce an analogue sampled value, where the scanning time point is assigned to a scanning clock signal and each period of the measuring signal 2m-1/2n is extracted as the sampled value. The analogue sampled value is converted to a digital sampled value. The response value is identified by calculating the cross-correlation between the test and the digital measurement signals using a fast Hadamard transformation, taking into account the arrangement of the digital sampled value. An Independent claim is included for a measurement arrangement to implement the method.
