The invention relates to a method for repairing or preventing damage to a bushing (6) welded into a container of the coolant circuit of a water-cooled nuclear reactor by means of an inner welding seam (10), especially damage to an instrumentation pipe guided through the wall (2) of a reactor pressure reservoir (4) of a pressurised water reactor, said damage being caused in a hazardous area (13), especially in the region of the welding seam (10), by means of the action of the water inside the bushing or inside the container, on the surface thereof which is in contact with the water. According to the invention, at least one of the surfaces is protected against the action of the water by means of a cover (14, 30) which is mechanically fixed to the bushing (6) and therefore not in the form of a weld connection.
