An inductive power system has the power regulated by a switching circuit (205,209-215) at the pick-up (201), which switches the pick-up off resonance at a frequency much higher than the inductive power frequency. The switch mark-space ratio is altered in accordance with the output voltage so as to regulate it but can be limited to restrict the maximum current drawn to reduce peak loading of the supply.
