Process for allowing the same java-based graphical user interface application to run either as stand-alone application or as an applet

The present invention provides for a process for allowing the same Java-based GUI application to run either as stand-alone application or as an Applet, in which the application is developed as an Applet, i.e. its main class is a direct or indirect subclass of Applet or JApplet, but at the same time it implements the usual entry point method for stand-alone appli cations (i.e. the main() method), that's the starting point for the application.
