The invention relates to pharmaceutical and cosmetic compositions which are used to prevent and treat cell ageing through the sequestration of reactive carbonyl species and which comprise a cosmetically- or therapeutically-effective quantity of glycinyl.histidinyl-lysine (GHK) tripeptide. The invention also relates to the use of the glycinyl.histidinyl-lysine (GHK) tripeptide in the preparation of pharmaceutical and cosmetic compositions which are used to prevent and treat cell ageing.
