The invention relates to radio engineering, more specifically to compact antenna assemblies. Said invention makes it possible to develop a variable beam antenna assembly whose dimensions oriented in the propagation direction of radiated and absorbed electromagnetic waves are much less than one quarter of wavelength. The inventive antenna is embodied in the form of a resonance oscillatory circuit which has a resonance at the specified frequency of an emitted or received electromagnetic signal and consists of a parallel-flat capacitor whose metallic plates are separated by a dielectric layer having a determined thickness, and of at least one inductive element. The inventive method consists in asymmetrically connecting the circuit to the output of a transmitting device or to the input of a receiving device and in arranging the capacitor at a distance l which corresponds to the antenna height, from a common conducting bus, wherein lμ/4.
