The present invention relates to a class of anti-microbial peptides, called Phylloseptins, isolated from Phyllomedusa hypochondrialis. The invention also relates to therapeutic and agricultural compositions comprising one or more Phylloseptins. Methods of treating infections of various mammalian organs such as the skin and methods of treating plant infections are also included in the invention.
