PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize lot size in such a manner as to minimize the sum of costs in real time according to a predictive value of the sales volume of merchandise.;SOLUTION: This system includes a sales performance database 3 for storing the sales performance of each merchandise; a merchandise parameter database 4 for storing parameters about each merchandise; a merchandise sales volume predicting device 1 connected to either or both of the sales performance database and the merchandise parameter database for predicting the sales volume of merchandise according to either or both of the sales performance and the merchandise parameters; and an optimum lot size determining apparatus 2 connected to the merchandise sales performance predicting device and the merchandise parameter database for determining, according to the sales volume predicted by the merchandise sales volume predicting device and the merchandise parameters, the optimum lot size at which merchandise is received.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
