PURPOSE: A method for assaying functional population of microorganisms in the ecosystem using an oligonucleotide chip are provided, thereby simply and accurately assaying the expression pattern of the functional gene of a specific microorganism, and analysing and removing pollution sources in the ecosystem. CONSTITUTION: A method for assaying functional population of microorganisms in the ecosystem using an oligonucleotide chip comprises the steps of: preparing oligonucleotides having the nucleotide sequences which complementary bind with substance degrading enzyme genes in microorganisms as capture probes; aligning and fixing the oligonucleotides on a slide to prepare the oligonucleotide chip; collecting a sample from the ecosystem, labeling RNA in microorganisms contained in the sample to prepare a capture probe solution, and treating the oligonucleotide chip with a mixture of the capture probe solution and a hybridization solution; and washing, centrifuging and drying the hybridized oligonucleotide chip, and detecting the labeled RNA, wherein the substance is pollution substances containing organic matters and heavy metals.
