PURPOSE: A method is provided which is capable of simply and inexpensively preparing ZnMgO alloy powder not easily synthesized by conventional technologies, and ZnMgO alloy powder synthesized by the preparation method is provided. CONSTITUTION: The preparation method of ZnMgO alloy powder comprises the steps of mixing ZnO powder with MgO powder in such a way that mole ratio of ZnO powder to MgO powder is 9.99:0.01 to 7:3; obtaining ZnMgO alloy powder by ball milling the mixed powder at an argon gas atmosphere after putting the mixed powder along with balls into a container and putting the mixed powder and balls into a ball mill device; and heat treating the ZnMgO alloy powder at an oxygen atmosphere of 500 to 600 deg.C, wherein a weight ratio of the mixed powder to balls is 1:16, wherein the ball milling process is performed for 20 hours or more, and wherein the heat treating process is performed for 3 to 15 hours.
