APPARATUS FOR GENERATING MULTI-STEP BACKGROUND PICTURE IN VIDEO GAME WITH REAL IMAGE BACKGROUND

PURPOSE: An apparatus for generating a multi-step background picture in a video game with a real image background is provided to display a real image of high quality and a background with cubic effect in a video game machine. CONSTITUTION: An image obtaining unit(10) obtains moving pictures to be used as a background picture of a game by using a video camera. A three-dimensional video processor(12) separates each object in the moving pictures output from the image obtaining unit, and obtains depth map. A multi-step background processor(14) makes groups of the objects in wanted steps by using the depth map, and executes appropriate texture mapping to the objects for generating multi-step backgrounds. A display unit(16) throws the multi-step backgrounds on a screen while scrolling the background in each step at different speeds.
