APPARATUS FOR ISOLATING AND COMBINING LIGHT IN LIQUID CRYSTAL PROJECTOR

PURPOSE: An apparatus for isolating and combining light in a liquid crystal projector is provided to realize magnifying projection of a color image using a monochrome liquid crystal panel larger than a color liquid crystal panel in the transmissivity, thereby increasing the light efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A first micro prism array(5a) isolates white light by wavelengths to make red, green, and blue lights enter the corresponding RGB pixels of a monochrome liquid crystal panel(4). A second first micro prism array(6a) is arranged in an opposite direction of the first micro prism array for combining the lights passing through apertures of RGB pixels, and compensating paths. In the case that pixel array of the monochrome liquid crystal panel is vertical stripe array, one micro prism is placed every one RGB pixel row. In the case that pixel array of the monochrome liquid crystal panel is horizontal stripe array, one micro prism is placed every one RGB pixel column.
