A process of natural dyeing of a priests robe

PURPOSE: A method for dyeing a priest's robe by dipping natural fiber cloth in dye liquor containing charcoal water and Chinese ink(meokmul, Korean native name) is provided. Whereby, the dyed product has long-term durability and clear color. CONSTITUTION: Cloth of cotton, hemp, ramie, hemp cloth or the like as natural fiber is soaked in water, dried in the light then, dyed in dye liquor containing charcoal water and Chinese ink alone or in combination thereof in an appropriate ratio, and then heated at 80 deg.C or more. In case of only dipping the cloth in a dye, potassium alum is used as a mordant, in case of rubbing it, glacial acetic acid is used, and in case of boiling it, salt is used. The charcoal water is prepared by mixing charcoal made from bamboo, ash tree roots or azalea roots with water.
