PURPOSE: Provided are catalyst manufacturing ketene dimer from carboxylic acid and its process. The microporous silica catalyst dehydrates the carboxylic acid directly into ketene and its dimer. The process is environment friendly because it minimizes the use of chemicals for the reaction and does not produce the toxic materials such as acidic chlorides as intermediates and by-products. CONSTITUTION: The manufacturing process includes: introducing continuously C2-C22 carboxylic acids into the vacuumed quart tube of the reactor, letting it pass through evaporation part wherein above carboxylic acids are heated by the electric furnace and through the reaction part which contains the microporous silica catalyst at 400-600deg.C. and cooling the produced ketene separated from the catalyst to the room temperature immediately at the cooling part to prevent it from changing by heat.
