PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting matureness and sweetness of a watermelon is provided to radiate light through the watermelon to detect the sweetness and matureness of the watermelon having a large diameter. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting matureness and sweetness of a watermelon is composed of a computer, a first conveyer(10) for delivering the watermelon to a sweetness detecting position, a second conveyer(30) for delivering the watermelon to a weight detecting position, a sensor for detecting whether the watermelon is positioned in a required position, an matureness detecting unit for detecting a striking sound on the watermelon, a lightening unit(80) for radiating light onto the watermelon, a sweetness detecting unit for detecting sweetness data from the light transmitted through the watermelon, an weight detecting unit, and a display for displaying the matureness, the sweetness, and the weight of the watermelon.
