PURPOSE: Provided are a plant gene sensing osmotic stress and enzyme expressed thereby, a method for increasing osmotic stress tolerance, a transformant obtained thereby and a DNA chip analysing expression of the same gene. CONSTITUTION: A plant gene sensing osmotic stress is characterized by containing the nucleotide sequence of SEQ ID NO:1 and being isolated from Capsicum annuum L. It is expressed in the root of Capsicum annuum L. An enzyme is characterized by containing the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO: 2 and being isolated from Capsicum annuum L. A method for increasing osmotic stress tolerance is characterized by inactivating the gene to inhibit the production of the enzyme.
