A light diffusion film having selective light diffusivity and light condensing power so as to provide a brighter image in the view angle as compared with a prior art, and consisting of two phases of different refractive indexes for scattering/transmitting light, characterized in that one phase of higher refractive index includes multiple columnar structure regions extending in the thickness direction of the film, each columnar structure region includes a region of long transverse section and the long region is oriented in a specific direction. An optical film and a liquid crystal display employing that light diffusion film are also provided.
