Multi-channel MPEG Video Encoding Algorithm of Time Multiplex Video

PURPOSE: A multichannel MPEG video compressing apparatus and method using TDMA are provided to utilize compression characteristic of MPEG even when a time-division-multiplexed image is compressed. CONSTITUTION: An MPEG video compressing apparatus includes a storage unit(307), a control information generator, a video compressor(301), a controller(302), and an output unit(308). The storage unit receives time-division-multiplexed video data from an external video multiplexer and temporarily stores frames to be compressed. The control information generator generates control information used for compressing the time-division-multiplexed video data stored in the storage unit. The video compressor compresses the video data according to the control information. The controller controls the control information generator and video compressor and transmits information about video compression. The output unit outputs the compressed video data and the information about video compression.
