EUROPIUM ACTIVATED YTTRIUM GADOLINIUM BORATE PHOSPHORS AND A PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An yttrium gadolinium borate-based fluorescent substance activated with europium and its preparation method are provided, to improve a luminous characteristic and the shape and distribution of particles by control the pH of a precursor solution. CONSTITUTION: The yttrium gadolinium borate-based fluorescent substance is represented by (Y(1-x-y)Gdx)BO3:Euy, wherein 0x1, and 0y=0.2. The method comprises the steps of adding a basic solution to a mixture solution comprising an yttrium compound, a gadolinium compound, a boron compound and an europium compound, to prepare a polyborate precursor solution having pH of 2-11; injecting the precursor solution to an aerosol generator to form aerosol with a diameter of 0.1-100 micrometers; drying and heating the aerosol at a temperature of 200-1,500 deg.C to obtain a fluorescent substance powder; and heating the fluorescent substance powder at a temperature of 800-1,500 deg.C for 1-5 hours. Preferably the basic solution is selected from the group consisting of liquid ammonia, hydrogen peroxide, formic acid, sodium hydroxide, urea and an alcohol (R-OH, wherein R is an alkyl group of C1-C40).
