PURPOSE: A method for operating buffers of a data link layer management module installed in a mobile communication terminal is provided to additionally assign a dummy buffer compensating for size limits of each process buffer, and to enable each process buffer to temporarily use a storage space of the dummy buffer as a self packet storage space, thereby minimizing self resource consumption without a buffer overflow. CONSTITUTION: A data link layer management module decides whether a series of dummy buffer assign request events are generated(S1). If so, the module communicates with a dummy buffer, and checks whether a reserved space exists to be assigned to a send buffer located in front of the dummy buffer(S2,S3). If so, the module immediately transmits an address of the dummy buffer to the send buffer(S5). The module checks each process buffer that uses the dummy buffer, and decides whether a series of dummy buffer usage return events are generated from a specific process buffer(S6). If so, to the dummy buffer, the module immediately transmits a message indicating to delete data assigned to the send buffer(S7).
