PURPOSE: A processing device for encrypting security data and storing encrypted security data, and a processing method thereof are provided to enhance the security by encrypting the security data with a cipher key and storing the encrypted security data into a nonvolatile memory. CONSTITUTION: A processing device for encrypting security data includes an in-vehicle unit, a vehicle, and a portable unit. The in-vehicle unit(2) includes an authenticating unit(6) for the portable unit, nonvolatile memories(8,9), and a controller(7). The vehicle(1) includes the in-vehicle unit, an in-vehicle system, and a communication unit. The portable unit(20) outputs a control command to the in-vehicle system of the vehicle through communication with the communication unit. An encryption unit for encrypting the security data of the vehicle with a cipher key is inserted between the controller and the nonvolatile memories. The security data are encrypted with the cipher key and are stored into the nonvolatile memories according to the control command of the controller.
