PURPOSE: A method for reproducing a gray scale and lowering a false contour in a plasma display panel using a single error diffusion process is provided to compensate a difference between gray scale values of a target decimal value and an integer value by using a gray scale-based error diffusion method. CONSTITUTION: A target gray scale value is outputted to a target gray scale extraction unit(10) by performing an inverse gamma correction process of an RGB input gray scale. A round-off execution unit(12) converts a gray scale value to an integer value by rounding off the output value of the target gray scale extraction unit(10). An error diffusion unit(14) diffuses a round-off error of the round-off execution unit(12) to peripheral pixels and represents an average target gray scale of a predetermined area for the next pixel process.
