PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal for changing an image file of a background image and a method for displaying the image file using the same are provided to allow a user to easily change a background image by simply manipulating a fixed display mode or an arbitrary display mode of the background image. CONSTITUTION: A mode setting unit sets a display mode for an image file downloaded from a contents providing server and an image file stored in a storing unit as a background image(S100). A sensor unit detects whether a folder is opened or closed(S200). If the folder is opened, a controller controls a display unit to display the image file stored in the storing unit as a background image on a screen(S300). The controller determines whether an operation command is inputted from a manipulation key of a key input unit(S400). If an operation command is received, the controller controls the display unit to display information corresponding to the operation command on the screen(S500).
