PHOTO-IMAGEABLE WAVEGUIDE COMPOSITION FOR FORMING OPTICAL WAVEGUIDE AND WAVEGUIDE FORMED THEREFROM

PURPOSE: A photo-imageable waveguide composition for forming an optical waveguide and a waveguide formed therefrom are provided to fabricate easily the optical waveguide by using a photo-definable composition. CONSTITUTION: A photo-definable composition includes a silsesquioxane polymer and a photo-active component. The silsesquioxane polymer includes units of the chemical formula, (R¬1SiO1.5) and (R¬2SiO1.5) where R¬1 and R¬2 are different and are substituted or unsubstituted organic side chain groups without hydroxy groups and two or more functional end groups. The solubility of the silsesquioxane polymer is altered to develop the photo-definable composition in an aqueous developer solution when the silsesquioxane polymer is exposed by an actinic radiation method.
