PURPOSE: An electrooptic device is provided to prevent material residues of an alignment layer from remaining or being generated around an edge part of a pixel electrode or around a contact hole. CONSTITUTION: Pixel electrodes(9a) and TFTs(30) for controlling a switching of the pixel electrodes(9a) are formed in plural pixels. Data lines(6a) for supplying image signals(S1,S2,...,Sn) are electrically connected to sources of the TFTs(30). Gate electrodes are electrically connected to gates of the TFTs(30). At a predetermined timing, scanning lines(11a) and scanning signals(G1,G2,...,Gm) are sequentially applied to gate electrodes. The pixel electrodes(9a) are electrically connected to drains of the TFTs(30). To prevent the maintained image signals(S1,S2,...,Sn) from leaking out, capacitances(70) are added between the pixel electrodes(9a) and opposite electrodes.
